Voyager EVO X vs. Voyager NXT: Which Workstation Cart is Right For You?

Voyager EVO X vs. Voyager NXT: Which Workstation Cart is Right For You?

One of the top questions we get asked is, “What’s the difference between Voyager EVO X and Voyager NXT?” These two workstations are both excellent choices for photographers, cinematographers, camera operators, and other professionals who plan to travel.

The Voyager EVO X and Voyager NXT are the upgraded successors of discontinued Scout EVO and Scout NXT. The Scout cart models were around for a long time and were very popular.

However, INOVATIV, as the name suggests, is always looking for ways to innovate and improve products. After listening to consumers’ needs and wants, it made sense to create a completely new workstation with all of the improvements users wanted.

Key Features of Both Voyager EVO X & NXT

The Voyager workstation carts are travel friendly workstations. They both have several key features that many users love:

What’s Unique About the Voyager EVO X Workstation Cart?

Workstation Cart

The Voyager EVO X is the premium version between the two cart models. EVO X models are available in 3 different lengths (30 In., 36 In., 42 In.) with a weight capacity between 400lbs and 600lbs.

Aluminum casters mean this cart is the lighter version of the two models available. Whether you enjoy standing or sitting when working, Voyager EVO X will adjust to your needs. The posts on the Voyager EVO X cart workstation utilize our patented SLAS system. The SLAS system features ergonomic release collars, providing an easier build and packing process, as well as height adjustability for the top shelf. Let’s just say that once you go with this tube release system, you never look back.

For lovers of accessorizing your workstation carts, this model gives you that freedom with threaded rail plates, AKA “cheese plates.” They feature a mix of 1/4-20 and 3/8-16 threaded holes allowing you to mount additional accessories and a multitude of third party products.

If you are the individual who accepts only top of the line products, then the Voyager EVO X is the perfect option for you. If you are reading about these features and thinking you want something more fundamental, then check out the Voyager NXT, as it might be the better fit for you.

What’s Unique About the Voyager NXT Workstation Cart ?

Workstation Cart

Voyager NXT is considered the base model of the two workstation carts. Due to its steel wheel hardware, it is heavier than the EVO X. There are two lengths (36 In. & 42 In.) available and it has a weight capacity of 600lbs.

Unlike the Voyager EVO X, Voyager NXT models come with a standard fixed height shelf. If you do not need to adjust the top shelf for sitting or standing purposes, then this may be the model for you.

Voyager NXT workstation cart owners do have the option to add upgraded features like the adjustable shelf, but if you want height adjustability and the fastest set up/break down method, then it’s better to go with the Voyager EVO X workstation cart.

Which Workstation Cart Is Right For You?

If you are looking for a mobile grip cart, camera cart, sound cart, DIT cart, or another type of travel-friendly workstation, either Voyager model could be a good choice. We recommend the EVO X to users who would like a more customizable, lightweight, and upgraded workstation. The NXT is a good choice for users who are on a tighter budget, but understand how foundational a mobile workstation is to a professional and expert workflow.
